What we did today
(& what we’ll do tomorow)
SCIENCE: Today we had a lot of fun building and launching paper airplanes. But these were special planes, because they helped us learn about gliding animals that live in the treetops of the rainforest. We made special modifications that helped us learn what makes a successful glider! These special lizards and lemurs have wide flaps of skin that help them sail from tree to tree Tomorrow we are going to dissect something fun!
ART: Today our paper mache birds finally take flight as we put the finishing touches on the body on and wings! Some of us who finished up early even had a chance to make a mask as well.
Tomorrow we’ll create an animal out of a kitchen tool. REMINDER: Don’t forget to bring a weirdly shaped kitchen utensil tomorrow!
RECREATION: Due to the fires we stayed inside for rec today. We played animal Simon says, team games, steal the bacon, and finished with animal face painting
Notes from the Director
Amazing camp spirit today! I loved all the fun animal costumes—your spirit really helped make the day extra special for the campers and staff! Due to the many fires burning, we tried to keep activities inside today. We know some campers really missed their out door time but safety first. Hopefully the air will be a bit better tomorrow. Goodnight, and see you tomorrow! SaraJ
Parent Surveys: Look out for the Parent Survey coming home with your camper today! Please please pretty please take a few minutes with your child tonight to fill it out. Your comments and suggestions are gifts that help us improve and get better every week. We love to hear what kids say at home so please include quotes whenever possible.
BLOG: Check out our Blog!!! http://saedmo.blogspot.com/. I’ll be posting picture this afternoon of today’s and yesterday’s activities. The Give Me More’s will be posted on the blog as well!
Collector Button Design Contest: All the kids completing this week’s activities will be bringing home an Edmo collector’s button commemorating this week’s theme. Later this year we will have a button design contest for next year’s themes! The winning campers’ designs will be featured on next summer’s buttons! Look out for emails in the Fall with more details.
Loved this week’s theme? Check out next week that’s all about FOOD! We would love to see you all you’re wonderful campers again!!!! You can apply online or call the home office at 415-731-MORE.
